I don’t know about you guys, but I love books about travel, and specifically road trips! I myself have been on plenty of road trips, but there’s something about reading about characters discovering themselves on the road together that really appeals to me. And with the extra time that most of us seem to have now (yay social distancing), I though I would give you guys some recommendations. So without further ado, here are some recommendations:

1. Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson: This is probably the most popular book on this list, but it deserves all the recognition. In addition to being set on the road, there are pictures, receipts, playlists etc all throughout the book which really adds to the fun! If you’re looking for a classic type of YA story, look no further.

2. The Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody: Similar to the heavier tones that deal with grief in Amy and Roger’s, the main character Ali is stuck on a road trip with her ex-boyfriend as they discover the value of ordinary objects (insert link to oodreads synopsis). I adored Ali and Nico, and their relationship was so sweet. If you’re looking for an emotional, but also fun story, this one is definitely for you!

3. Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman: This book is the most different than the rest of the books on this list as it follows a traveling circus. The main character, Harley runs away in order to pursue her dreams of becoming a famous trapeze artist, when she meets the quiet and serious Van. The two work together and while training, Harley begins to learn more about herself, her identity, and what family means to her. If you’re looking for a deeply emotional book on the importance of self-discovery, then I highly recommend Harley in the Sky (also Van is the best love interest ever!)

4. Love and Luck by Jenna Evans Welch: While this is a sequel, you don’t have to read Love and Gelato to read this one (although I highly recommend it! you can read them out of order, so if you loved this one then definitely read Love and Gelato). Love and Luck follows the main character, Addie as she embarks on a road-trip with her brother,Ian, and his friend, Rowan. Addie finds a special travel guide of Ireland to cure heartbreak, which she hopes will help heal her shattered relationship with her brother in addition to her heartbreak. If you want a fun and healing journey through the Emerald Isle (the beautiful Ireland), then definitely give this one a shot!
