So for this weeks Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, the prompt was to list books you wish you read as a child! Most of these books I have read, but in my teenage years or recently ๐
- Peter Pan by JM Barrie
- Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery
- Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
- Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
- The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman
- Black Beauty by Anne Sewell
- A Little Princess byย Frances Hodgson Burnett
- The Secret Garden byย Frances Hodgson Burnett
- Heidi by Johanna Spyri
- Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend
As you can see, most of the books are children’s classics. I guess I have a newfound appreciation for children’s classics. I didn’t really read much as a kid, but I wish I did read them back then.
Great list! I wish the Percy Jackson books had been around when I was a child, too. I didn’t read The Secret Garden until I was in university but I still really enjoyed it! ๐

I read most of the books on your list as a child, although some of them didn’t come out until I was an adult. I haven’t read THE GOLDEN COMPASS, although I’m pretty sure I have a copy on my shelves somewhere. So many people have mentioned it today that I feel like I need to read it already!
Happy TTT!

Thanks! I watched the movie to The Golden Compass when I was younger, but I didn’t read the book until a couple years ago!

I absolutely loved The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, and Heidi when I was young, I feel like they shaped who I am. You’ve got great books on this list. I’ve never read Peter Pan, but always meant to give that a try.

Oh gosh, young me absolutely would’ve LOVED Nevermoor! I mean, adult me loves it, too, but the experience is always a little different when you read things as a child. I try to get any kids I know who like Harry Potter to read it. xD I totally missed out on the whole Percy Jackson thing, too, and I’ll eventually go back and read them, but again, it’s not quite the same!
Here’s my TTT post.

I never managed to finish Little Women, sadly, but I really enjoy the parts I read whenever I have time! I also read the abridged version of Peter Pan when I was younger, but I have to read the full version, haha. Great list of classics! Thanks for stopping by my blog :).
